Jens (Katelaan) Pagel

Ph.D. student

I have been a PhD student in the Formal Methods in Systems Engineering group since October 2015. I began my studies under the supervision of Helmut Veith. My supervisors are Florian Zuleger and Georg Weissenbacher. I am also associated with the LogiCS program (Doktoratskolleg). Before coming to Vienna, I obtained BSc and MSc degrees in computer science at RWTH Aachen University.

My research focus is on the static analysis and formal verification of software. I am particularly interested in logic-based approaches to the (semi-)automatic verification of software with dynamic data structures and/or concurrency.

My PhD thesis Decision Procedures for
Separation Logic: Beyond
Symbolic Heaps
is available here.

Jens Pagel wins Bill McCune PhD Award

We congratulate Jens Pagel for receiving the 2021 Bill McCune PhD Award in Automated Reasoning! Jens graduated in 2020; his thesis on Decision procedures for separation logic: beyond symbolic heaps (supervised by Florian Zuleger) presents his substantial contributions to the theory of formal verification and automated reasoning, and to verifying heap-manipulating programs in particular.
